Reine de Saba

Beautiful, powerful and mysterious, she was one of the most legendary figures of the ancient Middle East. Wherever she went, she exuded a fragrant aura that made her famous throughout the world. She was the Queen of Sheba, or Reine de Saba in French. According to ancient accounts, the exquisite scent she gave off made her irresistible.
Her kingdom, stretching from the south-western Arabian Peninsula, today's Yemen, to Eritrea and northern Ethiopia, owed its wealth to a resource essential to ancient civilisations: fragrant resins, especially frankincense and myrrh, which later became central to both religious practice and perfume making.
